SML Engineers & Manufacturers (Pvt) Ltd is one of the well known Mould Making and Technical service providing Companies in Sri Lanka. Since our beginning in 1980's, we are one of the leading Metal Machining and Mould manufacturing Companies in Sri Lanka.

The company's well equipped and modernized plant covering an area of 20,000 square feet has been the key factor in its capabilities within the industry despite fierce competition.

SML is also one of the few companies to have its own in house R & D division, and a mould manufacturing and repair workshop. Capabilities in our workshop:

Milling / CNC Milling , Shaping, Manual Lathe, CNC Lathe, Grinding, Surface Grinding, Drilling, Welding, Pressing Engraving, E.D.M. Machining / CNC E.D.M. Machining, CNC Wire Cutting, Digital Measuring Systems, 3D Non-Contact Scanning, Reverse-Engineering and modelling.

SML supplies expert technical solutions to the Sri Lankan plastics industry. We offer Plastic products and design solutions to packaging, food and beverages, cosmetics, household, and personal care markets.

The company has plans in the pipeline for upgrading machinery and increasing automation of the factory complex. There will also be a shift in focus to the manufacture of items using engineering thermoplastic, to make engineering components and other industrial parts.

History

• 1981 – It was established and recognised as "U&S Engineering Works"
• 1989 – Its name was changed to "SML ENGINEERING WORKS". SML Invested in manufacturing Sawing machine attachments.
• 1990 – SML invested for new production floor
• 1995 – SML Invested to bring the mould making technology to its production. EDM (Electrical Discharged Machining) technology was introduced.
• 2000 – SML invested in CNC (Computerized Numerically Controlled) machining.
• 2005 – SML invested in 3D modeling
• 2006 – SML Invested in Injection Moulding.
– Organizational Structure was re-engineered. Its name was changed to "SML Engineers & Manufacturers (Pvt) Ltd"
• 2009 – SML invested in Non-contact 3D Scanning
• 2016 – SML invested in Plastic Recycling plant
• 2018 – SML invested in new facility for Injection Molding and Plastic Recycling division
